Information about COVID-19 is quickly overwhelming email inboxes, newsfeeds and our collective sense of certainty. Body and Soul Health Care, however, is a steady voice confirming the power you possess in your life holistically. I wanted to share some perspective and assurance that we (as always) have the power to impact what is happening in our lives. We are not helplessly “subject” to a virus however we should modify our actions to show precaution to lower the risk of getting infected. Here is some information to help put things in perspective.
What do we know about the Corona Virus?
1. Most people recover. Much of the reported data relates to the increases in the number of cases and the number of deaths, but most infected people are cured.
2. 80% of cases are mild. It is unclear what the actual death rate is, the estimate is 5%.
3. China is recovering. The strong control and isolation measures are working.
4. We know how to detect it.
5. Symptoms are very mild in Children. So mild, in fact, that it may go unnoticed.
6. The virus can be wiped clean! Alcohol (62-71% ethanol), Hydrogen peroxide (0.5%) or Sodium Hypochlorite (Bleach 0.1%) In just one minute, these things all kill the virus. Frequent hand washing (for 20 seconds) with soap and water is the most effective way to avoid contagion!
What is Body and Soul Health Care doing to ensure your safety while being treated?
1. We have always been very stringent in our disinfecting and cleaning processes and procedures. We will continue to take measures to keep our office safe and clean. Our linen company is as committed as we are to safety and cleanliness.
2. We have encouraged staff and patients alike to stay home if feeling sick.
3. We are asking patients to stay home for 14 days if they have recently traveled abroad.
4. Our older patients are the most at risk group (70+). We are fighting to protect them. Social isolation is important right now. We are encouraging you to refrain from attending large social events right now. Slowing down the transmission of this virus will enable hospitals to have the ability to care for people as the need arises. This is very important and will save lives.
Be well!
